 When people think of tile they usually think of ceramic tile first.  It is perhaps the most widely used of all tiles, due to its durability, availability, practicality and selection.  From classic white subway tiles to 12 x 12 slate replicas, ceramic tile is available in a plethora of sizes, shapes, colors and textures and finishes. Not to mention it is stain resistant, scratch resistant, fire resistant, doesn't fade from sun light, slip resistant and easy to clean. 

 Porcelain tile, believe it or not, has all the admirable qualities of ceramic and then some.  Porcelain tile is made from a very fine porcelain clay composition which results in a dense, extremely strong tile. Not only is porcelain tile frost resistant, but its biggest advantage over ceramic is that the color runs straight through the tile. Meaning, if it were to chip, it would be almost unnoticeable.
